چکیده

Abstract. We studied ice-nucleating abilities of particulate emissions from a modern heavy-duty diesel engine using three different types fuel. The polydisperse particle were sampled during operation and introduced to continuous-flow diffusion chamber (CFDC) instrument at constant relative humidity RHwater=110 %, while the temperature was ramped between ?43 ?32 ?C (T scan). tested fuels EN 590 compliant low-sulfur fossil diesel, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), rapeseed methyl ester (RME); all without blending. Sampling carried out stages in exhaust aftertreatment system, with simulated atmospheric processing an oxidation flow reactor. In addition ice nucleation experiments, we used supportive instrumentation characterize emitted particles for their physicochemical properties presented six parameters. found that contained no significant concentrations likely be relevance. substitution renewable fuels, emission systems such as catalyst, photochemical aging total had only minor effect on abilities.

Regulated and unregulated emissions from modern 2010 emissions-compliant heavy-duty on-highway diesel engines

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established strict regulations for highway diesel engine exhaust emissions of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) to aid in meeting the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The emission standards were phased in with stringent standards for 2007 model year (MY) heavy-duty engines (HDEs), and even more stringent NOX standards for 201...

Combination of biodiesel-ethanol-diesel fuel blend and SCR catalyst assembly to reduce emissions from a heavy-duty diesel engine.

In this study, the efforts to reduce NOx and particulate matter (PM) emissions from a diesel engine using both ethanol-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx over an Ag/Al2O3 catalyst and a biodiesel-ethanol-diesel fuel blend (BE-diesel) on an engine bench test are discussed. Compared with diesel fuel, use of BE-diesel increased PM emissions by 14% due to the increase in the soluble organic...

Environmental effects of using Methanol as a biofuel into the combustion chamber of a heavy-duty diesel engine

Methanol as a biofuel is an environmentally friendly substitute for pure diesel and can be obtained from biomasses. The use of biofuels such as methanol for the combustion process is associated with positive impacts on the environment. Using pure methanol or a blend of diesel/methanol fuel in motorized vehicles has been proposed by researchers. In this paper, pure methanol was injected into the...

The effect of hydrogen and nitrogen addition on heavy duty diesel engine emissions under reactivity controlled compression ignition combustion

The aim of this study is to evaluate a heavy duty diesel engine operation under reactivity controlled compression ignition combustion fueled with diesel oil and natural gas enriched with hydrogen and nitrogen addition. In this study, a single cylinder heavy– duty diesel engine is set to operate at 9.4bar gross IMEP (Mid- Load). The amount of injected diesel oil per cycle into the engine combust...

Neural Network Modeling of the Emissions and Performance of a Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine

SYNOPSIS Internal combustion engines are being required to comply with increasingly stringent government exhaust emissions regulations. Compression ignition piston engines will continue to be used in cost-sensitive fuel applications such as in heavy-duty buses and trucks, power generation, locomotives, and off-highway applications, and will find application in hybrid electric vehicles. Close co...
